Can you transfer Hi8 and Video8 tapes?

Yes. We transfer both Hi8 and Video8 camcorder tapes in house at our Louisville store.

What is the difference between Hi8 and Video8?

Both use the same small cassette. Hi8 was the higher quality version that came later. Bring in either one and we will handle it.

How much does a Hi8 or Video8 transfer cost?

Transfers are $24.95 per tape.

How will I receive my videos?

You can choose a DVD or a USB thumb drive. A DVD plays in most players hooked to a TV, and a thumb drive plugs into your computer.

Can I get both a DVD and a USB thumb drive?

Yes. You can order both for a minimal charge per tape.

What file format is on the USB thumb drive?

Your videos are saved as MP4 files at 720p resolution, which play on most computers, phones and tablets.

How long does the transfer take?

Usually about 2 weeks. Turnaround depends on how many orders are ahead of yours, since we work first in, first out.

Do my tapes leave your store?

No. Every transfer is done in house in Louisville, and your original tapes are returned to you.

Is Video8 the same as 8mm movie film?

No. Video8 is a camcorder tape in a small plastic cassette. Movie film on open reels is a different service, which we also offer through our movie film reel transfers.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed for most services. Stop by our Westport Road store during business hours.

Can you also transfer VHS and MiniDV tapes?

Yes. VHS, MiniDV and other camcorder tapes are covered by our video tape transfer service.
