Common questions

What slides do you scan?

We scan 35mm slides, including mounted Kodachrome, Ektachrome and other film types, plus glass-mounted slides and archival collections. 35mm is our standard size. Other sizes are non-standard and cost extra.

What resolution are standard 35mm slide scans?

Standard scans are about 4496 x 3000 pixels. That supports prints from about 12x18 to 16x24, depending on the image.

Do you remove dust, scratches or imperfections?

We clean slides with air, and in rare cases use an anti-static cloth for fingerprints. Scratches and debris that air cleaning cannot remove are not retouched in a standard scan.

Do my originals leave your lab?

No. All work is done at our Louisville location, and every original slide is returned when your project is complete.

What file formats do I get?

You get JPEG or TIFF files on a USB drive, CD or secure cloud download.

Can I upgrade to higher-resolution scans?

Yes. Higher-resolution scans are available on request. Tell us your slide type, quantity and how you plan to use the files, and we will recommend an option.
