Super 8 and Regular 8 Film Transfer in Louisville

Both are 8mm home movie film. Regular 8 has larger sprocket holes and a smaller picture area, while Super 8 has smaller sprocket holes and a larger frame. We transfer both, and our team will identify which one you have when you drop off your reels.

We price by reel size, not by how much film is on the reel, because every reel takes the same setup and handling time. Each reel is $22.50 per 50 feet of reel size: a 50 foot reel is $22.50, a 100 foot reel is $45, a 200 foot reel is $90 and a 400 foot reel is $180.

Yes. We capture optical sound in house and add it to your digital files. Magnetic sound reels go to a tested, trusted partner lab that handles magnetic audio, which is one of the very few times film leaves our store. Magnetic sound is billed at what the partner lab charges us, with no markup, and it usually adds one to two weeks to your order.

Silent reels and optical sound reels are transferred in house at our Westport Road store in Louisville. Only magnetic sound reels are sent out, to our trusted partner lab. Every original reel comes back to you when the work is complete.

Your finished movies come back on DVD, on a USB thumb drive or as a secure cloud download. Tell us at drop off which one you want.

Most customers get MP4 files, which play on phones, computers and smart TVs. You can choose standard resolution, or Bluray resolution for a small upcharge.

Turnaround depends on how many reels you bring in, and magnetic sound reels usually add one to two weeks. If you have a deadline, rush service moves your order to the front of the line for an additional 50 percent of the order total. Every job is different, so we do not promise a set rush time.
